i haven't posted in a while, it's just that i've been so busy with my new life!!
i'm so glad i left the org, and so is my brother.
i feel so much happier, i'm at peace, i don't have that feeling like something's missing anymore.
It is excellent that you are happy and optimistic about your future, it helps people like me to read other's post "no regrets" for leaving the organization....it really WILL be okay . Nice to have family "on board" as well- Happy New Year (a first for me too)

on a side note: I did not realize the enema's were associated as a JW thing...I got plenty of them as a child, my mom administered them as a result of what her JW parents did to her, and it was traumatic to say the least- very interesting.

hypothetical scenario.
you are a city manager in a major metropolitan city with a population of 3,000,000.. .
if the governing body was truly convinced themselves of the impending disaster and the fact that the end is imminent would they not focus their efforts in spreading the message through effective means such as telephone, television, internet, social networks etc?

I was flush from embarassment and rejection, then mixed with relief because I didn't have to stumble through my stupid presentation & my turn was over- I got to relax for another 10min until "round robin" around the sedan...oh damn it is my turn agan

as most of you know, my husband and i da's ourselves almost 8 months ago.
the communication with my family stayed pretty normal.
they would call once in a while and text me.
I am in your shoes and understand what you are feeling- I did not DA but just walked away over a year ago, my JW mom carried on our relationship as usual, but since recent pressure from other JW relatives and elders, she told me today that she cannot do things with me any longer- her reasoning to me is "she cannot turn her back on Jehovah". I told her that I respect her decision but I will not turn my back on her and I love her.
You need to keep the door open and show them what they cannot display...UNconditional love- they are restricted by rules and told that the love they display has to be only on their terms- my advice is to be the better person, don't close the door...

in an effort to increase the praise and honor to jehovah and jesus christ at the time of the memorial, the governing body has arranged for a special period of increased activity during april 2011.
you will be pleased to learn that during april 2011, publishers who wish to serve as auxiliary pioneers may indicate on the application whether they will be working toward a 30-hour or 50-hour requirement for the month.
this is a special arrangement for the month of april 2011 only.
Yea all the dubs will be soooo excited to waste the month blanketing doors with those invites- it's easy service to just drop off the invites (no presentation required) & you get to feel all warm and fuzzy about being an aux pioneer. I always wondered what was the big deal about the special talk given by the CO to all those who pioneered in April?? I did attend the "special super secret" meeting before the CO met with the regular pioneers a few times and it was very anti-climatic....he droned on about the same old thing he could have just spoke to the entire congregation- there were old people and full time workers who could have benefitted from the same "encouragement" right??

the holidays can be tough for a few years while you're adjusting.
the guilt of participating in, and enjoying anything related to the holidays can be overwhelming.. you don't have to celebrate any holiday to be a non-jw.
that is entirely up to you.. you may feel like xmas could never have any meaning to you because of your history and pagan roots.
Thanks for your perspective- this is my first year celebrating (I did feel too guilty last year-leaving the JWs was just too fresh) I liked how you said to make it what ever you want it to be...I hope to create some good holiday memories in the years to come :)

i'm not the biggest fan of depeche mode, but a couple of their albums were actually ok. there's one track by them i've always loved called, "strangelove" from their music for the masses album, and the lyrics remind me of my own thought process at times.
the lead vocalist sings at one point, "i give in, to sin, because you have to make this life livable.
looking back on it, i feel that i needed to watch that fight.
I went down that "slippery slope" and did the coffee thing...it was great for a long time, just casual friends, but it got messy at the end...and the whole JW thing kinda tore us apart (since I was still in and not quite faded out yet)...so it is up to you- I still got busted by nosy pioneers just sitting at the coffee shop talking with a young man & got the elders talking to me about the "slippery slope" i was on.
just know that if it may go beyond the friends thing, you may have to make a decision to get off that fence.

yep, thats about as much of the bible as i care to believe in, or quote, except "you will know the truth and the truth will set you free".
the only two verses i care for.
the bible is bs, religion is bs, and the jw's are the ultimate form of bs.

lol- um yes, a bunch of small groups huddled together in tight circles talking about the same recycled, tedious, most borring JW stuff-and vicious gossip about who is dating who (should they be holding hands? they are not even engaged), who got removed as a pioneer, blah blah blah......aarg when is this party gonna end so I can go home and relax? I am actually the "brotha" at any past JW get together- hugging the wall, making fun of the moron making a peace sign inside my head, and trying to think of an excuse to leave.
